Community Outreach

Healthy Liberian youth are better equipped to contribute to their communities today and in the future. For this reason, ONE Liberia Community Outreach program focuses on health and community engagement.

Health is a central issue and is connected to all other considerations in supporting the youth demographic in Liberia and with nearly 70% of Liberian population being the youth, health programming and services targeted towards youth represent an incredibly large contribution towards addressing key global health challenges.

ONE Liberia delivers education, prevention and support services that focus on the most important issues affecting young people’s health today: sexual and reproductive health, family planning, HIV/AIDS.

The education ONE Liberia and its volunteers provide is based on HIV transmission, prevention, and treatment options, as well as instruction into the damage caused by the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. The teaching program benefits from the input of schoolteachers and community leaders. In return, training is provided to teachers to ensure children in schools are receiving the proper information. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of delaying the age of onset of sexual activity and making reasoned decisions, as well as the importance of condoms in preventing transmission.

ONE Liberia also distributes condoms as part of its community outreach program.
